What size bag can I take as carry on?

I have a Jansport, 5200 cc backpack I was planning on taking on the plane as carry on. I don’t have it fully packed. Will this fit in the overloader? I am flying on a continental flight from New York to San Francisco, than a United flight from San Francisco to Sydney, Australia. What is the size of the over head storage trays?

Yes, that will fit. The overhead storage is actually pretty big. When my husband, two kids, and I went on Emirates to and from Pakistan, I had this huge gym bag my husband had gotten with his purchase of Kenneth Cole Reaction. He also had his laptop. I had my tote purse and the baby bag along with a stroller. Up until we landed in Dubai for the stopover, we had put all of that above our seats for the storage. Emirates is a great company that provides strollers for children so they took care of it from that point until we got to Pakistan. So your bag should definately fit in there.
